dave, a "heads up" for IP if you wish wrt Internet music services:

i find it surprising that in All The Press related hubris to these new
fangled online music services and such The One (and only) one that seems to
Really Do It Right (in my "book") is http://emusic.com -- but, for some odd
reason, it doesn't seem to get any respect/mention when legit online music
gratification services are examined or compared with one another.  emusic
has got some 250k+ tracks "now" on-line while Apple has "only" 200k+ tracks
available ;)

for a flat fee of $10/month (and even non-US credit cards are accepted --
unlike Apple's Just Announced service) i am able download & burn & keep just
about all i want without *any* restrictions What So Ever. Some months it's
nothing, others its gobs.  that's totally awesome "Good Karma", don't you
think?  and, for me, emusic has a really great dance/electronic selection.

I thought it would be a good idea to ping you and IP on the occasion of this
mornings announcement by emusic that they have upgraded their Sound
Quality -- they have just re-encoded their catalog with VBR encoding using
LAME version 3.92.  in addition, they also upgraded and released a new
download manager that supports Windows (natch!), but also both Mac OS 9 & OS
X as well as Linux (anything missing? ;)
