In case you wonder, the most common salad dressing in French is a vinaigrette, and absolutely nobody would substitute that with a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup. Overburned coffee beans get dumped, not drank. French fries are belgian, and french toasts only have a very tenuous relation with the "pain perdu" that my grandmother used to prepare. After many years, I have come to realize that much of what is called "french" in America is actually an elaborate practical joke on the French. ------ End of Forwarded Message ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as interesting-people () lists elistx com To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
