Hi Dave--I dunno if you think this is listworthy, and my feelings will not be hurt if it is not. But this illustrates all the more strongly the greatness of Aaron Feuerstein at Malden Mills, who, in the face of extreme incentive to move operations offshore after his factory burned down, refused to do so and kept his employees on the payroll and rebuilt.

The company did indeed go into bankruptcy, but is now emerging. Furthermore, they would have emerged a lot soon had Feuerstein accepted any of the pile of money happy Polartec customers sent him to show their support and keep the company going. I would have sent some myself, but before I got around to it, there was a story on the TV news about it in which the Malden Mills folks said they were giving all that money to charity instead of using it for the company.

There are not many companies whose customers don't merely buy the product with glee, they send the company donations to keep going in hard times. And it is all because Aaron Feuerstein is essentially what all men in his position should be--a man with a sense of responsibility to his employees and his customers as to himself. All of us will lose if Malden Mills goes under, and it seems that anyone who's ever bought a piece of Polartec is willing to invest in the very existence of the company that made it.

I literally know of no other examples of this righteous behavior, and why this man has not been given the Medal of Freedom long before this is a mystery to me. He's an example to American business, regrettably without peer.

This is also why I won't buy poly fleece without the Malden Mills label.

Thanks!
