Dave-

I think many of you members will be interested in the BBC series of 15 minute programs on the early days of computing. The programs are on the BBC Radio site <http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml>http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml There will be 4 programs as listed below. They appear on the web site a few days after the broadcast.
1) "LEO the Lyons Computer" Tuesday 30 October, 09:30 GMT
2) "Saluting the Moose" (Rand and Univac) Tues 6 Nov, 09:30 GMT
3) "Then we took the roof off" (MESM) Tues 13 Nov, 09:30 GMT
4) "Water on the Brain" (Phillips) Tues 20 Nov, 09:30 GMT

The program, "Electronic Brains, programme 2", number 2 above, covers American developments and includes the early history of the ENIAC and UNIVAC. Interviews with Kay Mauchly and Jean Bartik are included. The other programs are interesting also but not on US developments. I don't know how long they will be on the site- hope you can archive them for the Penn records.

The producer and gentleman who did the interviewing was Mike Hally, producer and partner, Pennine Productions. <mailto:mike.hally () fleet-street com>mike.hally () fleet-street com
