those who would defend WAP as being just the messenger and
not a guilty party in the cellphone debacles are missing an
important point.

when this all first started, the WAPsters trumpetted the power of WAP
to work all kinds of miracles, from watching your internet stocks
spiral ever higher - world without end, to booking nearly-free
first-class tickets around the world, and almost up to curing male
pattern baldness.

WAP was portrayed as the be-all and end-all of a new age of
Wireless Services and they who would benefit from such truth management
went out of their way to put WAP on everyone's lips.

so now this Brave New World is a bit less than it was made out
to be, and WAP is getting the blame and deservedly so.

Technically, the appologists are correct - it's just a protocol.

however, in the MARKET, it was annointed as the icon of this
brave new world, so it's gonna take the heat when people are unhappy.

Claim the credit, get the blame. we know it didn't deserve the
credit, but it doesn't matter. it was a pawn in a massive effort
to toy with the affections of the marketplace, and it's gonna
take the fall, along with the doofi (plural of doofus) who promoted
it as such.

i say "fine with me"
