AOL was widely expected not to renew the deal, particularly
given its acquisition of a competing browser through its
purchase of Netscape Communications in 1999. Microsoft and
AOL have also repeatedly clashed in their rivalry over
instant messaging.

Does this mean Mozilla is dead?

No. As I understand it this just means that the version of AOL 6.0 client
sofware that will ship in WinXP will not have mozilla as the heart of the
browser component.

There was some discussion/rumor about a plan to include mozilla, or rather
the rendering engine part of mozilla, in the next version of the AOL
client, but that may be for AOL 7.
