As a cofounder oc Cybercash and the instigator of CyberCoin I can 
attribute its failure to many dark forces as Richard mentions, but in 
addition to that we failed to make it easy to use.  Reaching on one's 
pocket for some change is all onje wants to do to effect a small 
transaction.  In the interests (fear) of security we made it hard to use 
for the customer and the merchant, not on purpose, but that was the end 
result.  Maybe someday...
