Apparently the French are banning the use of certain English terms such as IPO, stock options an email. ex: "messagerie" instead of e-mail. The Academie Francaise wants to preserve the French language, so they are trying to limit the amount of Western (read: American) words that enter their daily vocabulary. Of course, the AF is made up of mostly men, and has been that way for most of its existence. Fun fact for Monday: First woman on the AF was in the 1970s.
