Hoffman" <hoffman () SEAS GWU EDU> Subject: request to broadcast call for help in updating crypto product survey Dave and Peter, Dave Balenson and I are working on a whirlwind project to update the TIS (now Network Associates) data base on foreign crypto products in order to have fresh data for use in the Congressional debates which are expected as early as next week. Last week we broadcast calls on appropriate newsgroups for information on crypto products and received quite a few responses. However, these groups don't have the reach of RISKS or IP. I *thought* we had sent the call to each of you last week in hopes that you would broadcast the call, but either for time or policy reasons you haven't. If broadcasting appeals like the one below is against your policy, we certainly understand. However, we think that the call is germane to both groups of readers, and thus I wanted to call this to your attention with a request to forward it to your readership immediately, if you think it is appropriate. We are operating on a very short fuse and want to have the most recent data available. Concurrently we are doing a literature, newspaper, and newsgroup search as well. If you can help out here, we'd very much appreciate it. If you have any questions, don't hestitate to call or e-mail me. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
