This DEAS Distinguished Speaker lecture was given by Professor David Farber in March of 1999 at the University of 
Pennsylvania. Dr. Farber is the Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Telecommunications in the Department of Computer and 
Information Science here at the University of Pennsylvania.
