Dave- I haven't given up but I have started curtailing my use of the net. I used to subscribe to a dozen interesting lists such as yours, full of lively conversation and insights. One by one they've all either fallen silent or been monopolized by idiots. Yours is the last list - that I know of anyway - which has survived. There are a few interesting websites out there ("Z" magazine's on the left, lewrockwell.com on the right, and antiwar.com at an undetermined point in the spectrum, for example), but somehow the web-newspaper model doesn't foster debate like the discussion groups (and usenet news groups) used to. BTW, I've never liked the insecurity of the WWW / Windows/ Active-X/Java gui net access approach but the solution to that is to keep all financial and other personal data on a PC which is never connected to the net. (In the future I suppose this will preclude the use of phone-home-to-Redmond Office software.) I expect I'm going to continue to need the internet in the future - for routine communications - but I will probably enjoy it less. Brad
