Hi, Dave,

I have recently written, with the help of Dan Dolan, two essays in
English, one discussing the reason why Japan laggen behind in
informatization and the other discussing the long-wave patterns observed
in the history of modern Japan. They are closely related. The former was
originally published in Japan Times. But its revised version is now
available from our homepage at

http://www.glocom.ac.jp/lib/kumon/99/informatization.html

The latter is an English summary of the book I edited and is reachable
at

http://www.glocom.ac.jp/lib/kumon/99/longwave.html

Best regards,

Shumpei Kumon
