It will define an industry led agenda for action toward creating a dependable reliable and robust information infrastructure. Outstanding presentations are scheduled to cover a full range of associated technical, organizational, business and policy concerns. The meeting is open to non-XIWT members. Those who have been following the "Critical Infrastructure" report and subsequent Presidential Directives will find the meeting particularly useful, as we will explore the central issues with many of the responsible agencies and key people. Materials associated with the meeting are on line, linked from the XIWT homepage <http://www.xiwt.org>. ---------------- Preliminary Agenda ---------------- Critical Infrastructure: The Path Ahead Symposium on Cross-Industry Activities for Information Infrastructure Robustness 3-Nov-98 Welcome Robert Kahn (XIWT) Symposium Overview Leiner (XIWT) Keynote: We're All in the Same Boat Stephen Lukasik (Stanford/CRISP) 1) Infrastructure Evolution Session Keynote: Changing Face of Telecommunications Howard Shimokura (SBC) IOPS: Industry Initiative for a Robust Internet, Kelly Cooper (GTE) The Network Reliability and Inteoperability Council, TBA (FCC) Symposium Keynote: Irving Wladawsky-Berger General Manager , Internet Division, IBM Corporation Reliable, Dependable Information Infrastructure: End to End 2) Infrastructure Performance Session Keynote: Information Infrastructure for a Reliable Utilities Industry, Steve Drenker (EPRI) Customer Views of Internet Performance, Sharad Singhal (HP) Measurement and Visualization of Internet Connectivity and Performance, Kim Claffy (SDSC/CADIA) 2) Policy, Business, and Economic Issues Session Keynote: Financial Sector Perspective Dan Schutzer (Citicorp) Federal Interests in Industry Action (NTIA speaker) Panel: Cross-Sector Interaction, Barry Leiner (CNRI) Panelists: Tom Kalil (EOP) Elliot Maxwell, Dan Schutzer (Citicorp) NTIA representative International Standards representative (Higgenbottom, HP) Michael Merritt (AT&T Labs) Robert Aiken (Cisco) Jon Postel (ISI) Reception Day Two 4) Missing Technology, Practices, and People Session Keynote: A Vacuum and an Opportunity Anita Jones (UVA) NRC Report: Trust in Cyberspace Steve Crocker The "Internet Security Forum": One Simple Step Mark Graff (Sun) IETF GRIP: Collaborative Incident Response, Barbara Frazier (CMU/CERT) Discussion 5) Future Collaborative Activities Charles Brownstein (CNRI) Panelists: (tentative) Sami Saydjari (DARPA) Kamal Abdali (NSF) Anita Jones (UVA) Howard Shimokura (SBC) Jack Danahy (BBN) Michael Mackay (Novell) Stuart Personick (Drexel Univ) Summary and Future Plans Leiner Charles N.
