   Lobbyists for Y2K Liability Limits

   Nobody knows for sure what will happen when computer clocks reach
   1-1-00, but one thing seems certain: Anyone with a Y2K problem will
   want to blame it on someone else. One estimate predicts that
   Y2K-related litigation in the U.S. will top $1 trillion. The solution,
   according to speakers at the National Association of Manufacturers
   yesterday, is for Congress to pass a law curbing liability. "That
   would give [companies] some protection under some circumstances," said
   Ed Yardeni, chief economist for Deutsche Bank Securities.
