I've been fielding phone calls from the press this week regarding
the Kasparov--Deep Blue match. They ask about us versus them and I
point out it us versus us; computers are a human invention.


I'm going to the final game on Sunday. Based on the improvements in 
machine chess the predictions were that a machine would be world champion
by the late 90s. Will 1997 be the year?
