I found this an interesting also. The comment re group work also says
something about the relative lack of focus on real modern groupware on the
net.


Dave -- the "grandfather of the japanese internet: said by June Muri who
was certainly the first father of the Japanese internet

interesting article about the net in Japan and how Japanese work in groups,
so solitary surfing may not be a good fit- also that one of the "fathers of
the Net in Japan" says:
"Internet is not just a communications tool; it is also used to access
culture. If Internet destroys culture it is not good for me," he said.


"TOKYO (Reuter) - He could be called one of the fathers of the Internet in
Japan but Koichi Suzuki isn't sure whether the new communications tool is a
good fit for the Japanese. "
