IP: a visit with the Vice President

Today at the end of the first meeting of the PACHPCCITNGI, the Committee
went to the Executive Office Building to meet for 20 minutes with the Vice
President. After the obligatory remarks from all, Mr Gore showed an
understanding of the issues raised by the NGI and information technology at
a level that  was very impressive. Without notes he hit several key issues
and talked a visionary view of the future for our children and theirs aided
by information  science and networking. He also punched his interest in the
issues of the Global Information Infrastructure and it's importance to the
world. He used terms like the birth instrument of an emerging global culture.


I suggest everyone read in detail the State of the Union message especially
those portions which deal with education and technology. They seem very
serious in making it happen.
