ROADRUNNER COMPUTER SYSTEMS, INC. V. NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.

On March 26, 1996 a lawsuit was filed by Roadrunner Computer Systems, Inc.
against Network Solutions, Inc. in the US District Court for the Eastern
District of Virginia. The civil action number is 96-413-A. Among other things,
the lawsuit seeks:

  * An Order enjoining NSI preliminarily from placing the roadrunner.com domain
    on hold as a result of enforcement of the Present NSI Policy;
  * An Order requiring NSI to develop new policies which will provide for fair
and evenhanded treatment of domain name owners when issues of trademark
    disputes are raised; and
  * An Order forbidding NSI from acting in an arbitrary or capricious manner in
interpreting policies relating to domain name registrations, and requiring
NSI to publish the outcome of all such interpretations for the benefit of
    the concerned public.

Roadrunner Computer Systems, Inc. is represented by Oppedahl & Larson. You can
see the Complaint, the Memorandum of Law in Support of a Motion for a
Preliminary Injunction, and a Declaration in Support of the Motion for a
Preliminary Injunction. You can also see the Court Docket Report. The US
Patent and Trademark Office has an article about domain names that may be of
interest. Carl Oppedahl has written an August 1995 article and a November 1995
article that discuss domain name trademark issues.
