Name: Atlas 32-Bit (aka Netscape Navigator 3.0 Beta 2) Version: Preview Release 1 File Date: 03/26/96 Size: 5.9 Mb Download Time: Approx. 90 minutes with 14.4 modem Developed By: Netscape Communications Corp. Registration: Free Evaluation (expires July 15, 1996) Homepage: http://home.netscape.com/ File Location: ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/navigator/atlas/pr1/windows/standard/atls32s1.exe Description: The Atlas Preview Release 1 is an early beta of a future version of Netscape Navigator. Significant changes include new navigation for "Frames" and the "Back" button. When you click on a link that updates a frame, pressing the Back button returns you to the previous state of the frame, instead of returning you to the previous whole page. In other words, navigating among frames now works on a per frame basis: pressing Back revisits the previous frame and pressing Forward revisits the frame ahead. Other additions include triple-pane Mail and News panel layout options; compressed Mail and News headers; support for table cell background colors; an audio playback plug-in capable of playing AIFF, MIDI, WAV, and AU sound formats; a Live3D plug-in which extends Netscape Navigator so that you can experience distributed, interactive 3D spaces with text, images, animation, sound, music, and video; a video playback module that plays Windows AVI movies; a CoolTalk helper application that provides full-duplex audio conferencing, allowing both users to speak and be heard simultaneously (includes a chat tool and shared whiteboard for textual and graphical data conferencing); enhanced Java security; and finally, the ability for developers to dynamically determine what plug-ins are installed on the Navigator client.
