Subject: IP: ONLINE PUBLISHING DILEMMA
Status:

Just a comment in response to someone's suggestions that the issue of whether
posting online is "public disclosure" for purposes of the U.S. patent laws, and
the further comment that this issue will have to "mature;" I could not
disagree
more. Unless the communication is a private letter to one person or a very
small
group of people and where there is no general posting, it is clearly a public
disclosure of the type contemplated under the patent laws, and only a judge who
does not understand online communications, Web sites, or conference postings,
will misunderstand the issue.

(My usual subtle comments).
