Looks like this whole thing may have some reality hmm.
Seems to me yet again the net has done well in alerting
people to DC activities when it seems one would rather not
have them well known. As I said before, so much for open
government!!!

Howard Baker, the former Senate majority leader, has been named
chairman of the Competitive Long Distance Coaltion.  MCI
Chairman, Bert Roberts, told a press conference announcing
Baker's assignment that "At this point in time, we see things on
a fast track," refering to the telecom reform legislation.


As for the "no leaks" on information... well, I guess you have to
know where to look.  This is what I dug up.


Only CEOs have been invited.  No lobbysts will be allowed to sit
in.


Several industries will be represented, from cable to computer to
long distance.  Each will have 2 hours to make their case to the
congressmen.


Broadcasters hold forth between 2-4 in the afternoon (Thurs).
The computer industry gets its shot late afternoon.  On Friday,
the long distance industry gets a hearing from 9-11 a.m, followed
by the cable and satellite gys from 11 am to 1 p.m. with the
telephone industry bringing up the rear at 1-3 p.m.


And this is all followed up with a nice intimate dinner on Friday
night...
