To: Multiple recipients of list <nii-teach () wais com> Subject: Europe and the Global Information Infrastructure: Holland Last week the Dutch government announced its National Information Actionplan. Its purpose is to help Dutch entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the emerging global information infrastructure. The Action Plan consists of several demonstration projects in both public and private sectors. The key project for education is BVEnet - a network which will connect all institutions of (secondary) vocational education, adult education and workplace training to the Internet and which will concentrate on new ways of learning and teaching in a knowledge-based society. After almost twelve months of preparation this project has now officially been launched. :-)))) More info on the National Information Actionplan can be found at URL: http://www.nic.surfnet.nl/nap/home.html This web page also has info about the discussion list on the action plan. The Dutch action plan is one of the first results of an effort started mid 1994 by the European Union (Bangemann Report, an Action Plan from the European Commission).
