Microsoft's <MSFT.O> Gates to write column

SEATTLE, Dec 15 (Reuter) - Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill
Gates will begin writing a twice-monthly newspaper column for the New York
Times Syndicate, officials said.
A notice from syndicate said the column will begin
appearing January 3 and already has been picked up by
newspapers around the world, from the Dallas Morning News to
Denmark's Danske Civilokonomer.
A Microsoft spokeswoman said the columns would be developed and approved
by Gates but written by Microsoft employees.

He won't actually be sitting down and keying the columns
himself," said the spokeswoman. "What he'll do is more or less
dictate."
In the first column each month, Gates, whose net worth of
$9.1 billion makes him America's richest individual, will hold
forth on management, risk-taking, the media and the information revolution,
the syndicate said.
In the second, he will answer readers' questions, including
those sent to him through a new electronic mail address.
