I am glad they are "struggling". Everyone knew this would happen and have
known for years that the net was vulnerable. It was cheaper to hope it
would not happen.

HACK ATTACKS ON NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE
The August 17 Chronicle reports new hacker attacks aimed at the
Internet infrastructure. Unlike the password-sniffing attacks that have
been written about in the press recently, these new assaults are on the
routers that get data from one place on the net to another.
Computer-security experts at CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team)
Coordination Center in Pittsburgh and elsewhere say the attacks are very
dangerous and they are struggling to find ways to protect the network
infrastructure before hackers manage to disrupt traffic that is headed to a
particular network or institution. (Chronicle of Higher Education 8/17/94)
