              Japanese Intellectual Property Conference  

Monday, July 12 and Tuesday, July 13, 1993 at the National Press Club, 
14th and F Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. Sponsored by the Japan Information 
Access Project and the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.  
Day one will discuss Securing Intellectual Property: Politics and Practices 
and Day two will examine The Japanese Patent System and Strategies for 
Competitiveness.

Day One Presentations will include:

      * The Future of U.S.-Japan Patent Relations
      * The Trade Politics of Intellectual Property: Super 301 and 337
      * Protecting Trade Secrets in Japan
      * Understanding the Limits of Japanese Copyright  
      * Effective Contract and Licensing Negotiation in Japan

      * Working with the Japanese Patent System: Abuse and Use
      * Retrieving and Making Sense of Japanese Patent Information
      * Commissioning and Evaluating a Patent Translation
      * Patent Analysis for Strategic Advantage
      * Integrating Japanese Patent Data for R&D Planning
