This whole thing is a case study of self contradiction - another typical woolly
headed mixed solution.

So when will the Department of Federal Information Equality start giving out
"Info Stamps" to the less fortunate have-nots? Of course, they will only be
able to use these to buy access to programs approved by PBS and NEA. We can't
have the lower classes playing Mortal Kombat.

And pray tell, how does a government "protect" competition? By punishing
winners with anti-trust litigation and propping up losers with subsidies? We've
done a swell job protecting competition in agriculture. Ever been to a cheese
cave? I wonder how long it will be before we start filling up government
warehouses with "information" that nobody wants produced by designated
diversity groups using government subsidies. It reminds me of the art
warehouses in Denmark.

And what can be funnier than listening to the feds rant and rave about
"unfettered monopolies." Only the government can create monopolies. Has anybody
bothered to read the history behind the Communications Act of 1934 and the
forced consolidation of the telephone business? Monopolies rarely arise and do
not last long in a truly free market. What killed OPEC? Was it government
regulation or deregulation?

As a people we have learned nothing. We continue to get bamboozled by closet
socialists using free market rhetoric. We want the material benefits of
capitalism without understanding the underlying moral philosophy that makes it
work.

Somedbody needs to speak out on these things.

PS. I can't wait until Kapor is appointed undersecretary of information to
ensure that our laws "stay flexible".
