We wrote a paper on simulating networks with Honeyd: http://www.paladion.net/papers/simulating_networks_with_honeyd.pdf Some of Honeyd's cool networking features are: - You can simulate a complex network topology with multiple routers in just one box - Configure network characteristics like latency, loss and bandwidth to simualte real-world networks - Deploy multiple entry routers to serve multiple networks from one machine - Integrate external physical machines into your virtual network - Set up distributed Honeyd networks using GRE tunnels The paper builds a sample network one step at a time to show how these features can be used. The paper also includes a sample honeyd.conf template that can be modified to simulate your own network. Thanks to Lance Spitzner, Niels Provos, Ed Balas, and Laurent Oudot for all the ideas and suggestions. This paper was so much more fun writing with all your ideas coming in. Thanks, Sangita.
