Viruses

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, Mikko Hyppönen's recent TED talk on
viruses and the net:

tml

If you do virus research, there is nothing new here. On the other hand, Mikko
presents very well, and, unlike all too many "experts," he knows the reality, and
doesn't make simple mistakes. It was very refreshing to see a presentation by
someone who knows what he is talking about, rather than some latecomer trying
to jump on the bandwagon.

Probably the most important point is about BCP. Don't worry, you'll see it when
it comes :-)

I've got to admit that I, too, get a kick out of the story of the BRAIN brothers
getting infected. More than that, though, it does raise an important point. These
guys started earlier than I did, and actually wrote a virus. They got infected by
other viruses, over the years. I didn't. This speaks to the idea that
hackers/intruders/virus writers are good at telling you how to protect your systems.
 They aren't.
