One of the great things about having your "Legacy Apps" in an XP VM
(under Centos x64, and accessed via RDC), is you have a very simple
solution to this.

1: Always snapshot before patching.

2: Apply patch.

3: Test

4: If fail revert to snapshot!

We've had a couple reports of this at the Internet Storm Center as
well.

Lots of Blue screens.

On the desktop machine I've got Auto Updates full on.  So, of
course,
yesterday
the machine patched and rebooted while I was away from the desk (it
seems to
sense lack of user presence somehow).  And, of course, I didn't see
this until this
morning.

I've lucked out and I didn't get a blue screen.
