Yet more chip and pin stories. Yeah, this is old hat by now, but this is kind of neat in that the bad guys actually got a card reader to "phone home" by putting cell phone gear inside it: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/10/organized_crime_doctors_chip_and_pin_ machines/ (OK, we've got a whole bunch of doctored readers: surely somebody can find the number that they were calling?) Also, a BBC piece, in two parts on YouTube. (Watch for Ross Anderson: the piece must be a little old since a scan of his office shows "Security Engineering," first edition.) This one shows the banks in a pretty bad light: rather cavalier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7QzOcZAwbg http://youtube.com/watch?v=pHdX3ZYEvXw ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) rslade () vcn bc ca slade () victoria tc ca rslade () computercrime org The chief forms of beauty are order and symmetry and definiteness, which the mathematical sciences demonstrate in a special degree. - Aristotle (384-322 B.C.), Metaphysics victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/ _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
