Computer glitch backs up DMV

A computer glitch likely caused by the Leap Year date caused problems for
many residents trying to obtain a driver's license this morning, according
to S.C. Dept. of Motor Vehicles spokesperson Beth Parks.

``We had a bug in one of the programs that calculates the date,'' Parks
said.

Most of the problems were resolved late in the morning, she said. The
problem continued to affect those trying to obtain a commercial driver's
license and others hoping to have a suspension cleared or obtain a driver
record, Parks said. 

All of the problems are expected to be fixed by Saturday morning.
