Well it was a serious technical snafu, in which an incumbent who's
party is under investigation had potential whistleblowers for that
specific case emailed to him.

I think that is a pretty cool story, technical enough for FunSec, and
the OP only referenced current self-evident facts, with no mud
slinging....
