Let's face it - requiring forklift upgrades of every single fax machine in the state to require encryption, to solve a mostly non-existent problem (the sniffing of fax transmissions in transit) is pretty much a non-starter.
Shit, you got me, you're so high tech... How about disallowing the use of a fax machine to transmit personal information? Too low-tech of a solution for you? The company I used to work for once spent a week faxing prescription information to a bank. That same company spent a day calling another bank to try and keep them from continuing to fax personal financial information to them. Faxes suck and they shouldn't be used. Then again I suppose there are those that can live with just using the ol' cover sheet that says, "if your are not the intended recipient of this facsimile you must destroy it immediately"... _______________________________________________ privacy mailing list privacy () whitestar linuxbox org http://www.whitestar.linuxbox.org/mailman/listinfo/privacy
