No, guess not. Very well said, all of it.

But how easily you can now judge those who "didn't know" then, and
harshly you judge those who "didn't know" this time. Like the minds of
the insane are so easily read. You think you have an inside guy - he's
on the cabinet for Christ's sake - and HE was convinced Saddam had
nukes.

Oh - and no-one imagined that the French would crack as easily as they
did.

Why not? <here's the fun>
 
Read the history of WW1, especially of Verdun. Ils ne passeront pas. This 
was only 20 years after then, and why would anyone think that the French 
army would be so much worse (or the Germans so much better).
