And now, for everyone's favorite commentator:

Geneva, <http://www.smallarmssurvey.org> Switzerland-based study about guns
in circulation--backs up Second Amendment advocates (like me). It shows that
more gun ownership correlates with lower crime rates in a country.

The study reports that civilians across the globe own 650 million small
arms, 75% of all guns in circulation.

While Americans have the highest percentage and number of guns per capita
(270 million--or 9 guns for every ten Americans), that's a good thing. Keith
Krause, director of the Small Arms Survey, cited
<http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/2007/08/28/guns_0829.html> low
gun ownership and high crime rates in Latin American countries as dispelling
the myth that guns and high crime rates/violence go together.

"There's no clear relationship between more guns and higher levels of
violence," Krause said . . . . He said studies had shown that gun violence
often occurred in places undergoing rapid urban growth.

Exactly.
