Bogosity Watch: An Entire Business Cropping Around ID Theft

I find this quiet troubling.

On the front page on MSNBC.com this evening is a front-and-center
advertisement for ID Theft protection. Upon further inspection
(a la clicking upon a revenue-generating ad), I find that the
"insurance" is underwritten by Transunion, "The largest credit
bureau in North America and the credit reporting industry leader
in fraud protection."

I'm appalled. I guess I probably shouldn't be.

An "Indivdual theft proctection plan" can be bought for $89.99
a year.

A "family Plan" for $99 a year.

Aren't we lucky?

Doesn't anyone else see how much the consumer has been pinched,
and in almost (what I would consider) an immoral fashion?
