That's gotta be hell on the battery life.  Which means you need to find other
means to keep at least close enough track of the guy so you know a potentially
interesting convo is about to happen, so you can turn on the mike...

There used to be rules on when and for how long you can listen to a
conversation - so that you're only listening to those which have to do
with your warrant. Not sure if that holds true for bugs as it does for
taps - or whether this is considered a tap or a bug...
