Maybe if the system has never been opened for legitimate service, anyhow.
Between a failed hard drive several months ago, and a more recent cooling fan
issue that required multiple teardowns of the entire machine and an eventual
replacement of the motherboard, everything on this laptop has been pulled 8 or
10 times.  So my prints and tool marks from screwdrivers are *all* over it -
wouldn't take much at all to pop that one screw holding the drive in without
adding noticably to the markings already there....

Yeah I didnt think that one through. You wouldnt even need to remove
the HDD, just boot off a linux ISO and then DD the laptops hdd to a
usb hard drive you inserted for that purpose.
