Making Iraq the 51st state of the USA, huh? That's probably the worst
possible foreign policy you could have - even worse than the policy that
led to Vietnam.

Which was what?

Support a corrupt unpopular regime against the wishes of the majority of
the country.

Oh, so you missed it. We were practicing communist containment - same

And the policy totally failed - you lost the Vietnam war, plus it turned
out that it didn't actually matter that you lost, because even though
Vietnam went communist, it didn't help the continuation of world
communism.

So - it was a useless foreign policy.

Yeah, a socialist agenda with the addition of racism and hate of
immigrants. And that one man did pretty much start the war - it was he
that sought out Japan (creating a fantabulous story of their heritage
so that it could be squared with the propaganda).

No, Japan got into the war in 1931 when they invaded Manchuria.

The danger of assuming that Hitler was the cause of WW2, is that it
simplifies away all the other causes of that war.

When he invaded
Poland Churchill wanted to immediately react, if he would have been
listened to then, at that moment, WWII would have never happened.

When Poland was invaded, we immediately declared war on Germany. Without
the cooperation of Russia, it wasn't practical to send troops to Poland.
The main Allied army at that time was French, and we all know what
happened to them.

It takes the UK several months to get going on a war, because we don't
have a large standing army, we're a sea power, we have to conscript and
train an army, which takes time.

Not as long as it took the Americans, of course, who didn't get interested
in WW2 until bombs fell on Pearl Harbour.

OK, now's your cue to suggest that America won WW2 single-handed.
