Finally. http://www.businessweek.com/mediacenter/podcasts/techmaven/techandu_03 _09_06.htm Took them long enough.
They only integrated it with the OS in the first place because they didn't like that Netscape was releasing a product for free that was popular. It has always been extremely stupid to integrate a web browser with the operating system so much so that the web browser could not be removed. ------------------ Keep in mind this was a marketing driven decision, not a security one (obviously). The reason IE was embedded so far in the OS that it couldn't be removed is that Bill knew that a judge was going to order him to remove it. When a Judge ordered him to remove IE and he pointed to the fact that he couldn't, it didn't seem like such a bad thing (except from that little aspect we call security). Enter 10 years of remote code executions (and counting :-) -JP _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
