I was a customer of bellsouth in Atlanta for many years after 9/11, so
if anyone hears of a class action, let me know. I wouldnt sign on to a
lawsuit designed to get money (outside of legal fees) but I would sign
on to a class action that hoped to make the telco's more respectful of
my privacy and fearful of their customers retribution when they screw
us over.

I'm missing something. The only two ways to make a corporation fearful
of customer retribution (remember - POTS telco service is a monopoly
in mose places, so people can't jump ship easily) is to extract large
sums of money from them and affect their bottom line, and force a settlement
that delivers all C-level execs a kick in the testicles.

And given that Qwest was the only one with enough testicles to say "get a
warrant or a court order or even a grocery list signed by an actual judge,
and *then* we'll sell out all our customers", I doubt a kick would dissuade
them....
