Absolutely, if your paid to put something in print/type/text to endorse a candidate, then it's an advertisement in my eyes, I can see the regulation there. But, if I want to type anything that I want about anyone running for any office I should be able to do so un-regulated.... Of course they can sue me for all sorts of things if what I say is wrong or defamatory, etc Michael P. Wow, isn't that simply called "free speech" and protected by the 1st amendment of the Constitution here in the states? Why was there even a need for a "ruling" on it...
It isn't "free speech" if someone is paying you to say it. Then it's "paid speech" , otherwise known as "advertising". So, if you're going to regulate political advertising, maybe that should include paid-for blogs.

In a 6-0 vote, the commission decided to regulate only paid political ads placed on another person's website. The decision means that bloggers and online publications will not be covered by provisions of the new election law. Internet bloggers and individuals will therefore be able to use the internet to attack or support federal candidates without running afoul of campaign spending and contribution limits. ----------------------------------- Stop drooling Fergie! -JP _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
