If both participants have the latest version of PGP Desktop installed, 
it will transparently proxy and encrypt the session (AIM works, but I'm 
not sure about the other big ones).  It does the same for SMTP/POP/IMAP 
as well and works surprisingly well.  It's not cheap, though :(
