And you thought security couldn't get worse?

Jon Oltsik writes in the C|Net Corporate Security Blog:

Top security dogs from Visa and Mastercard presented at a conference in Memphis this week and told the audience that
the bad guys were winning the war against the credit card companies. Pretty alarming until you realize that the
security honchos also said that these breaches would not have happened in the first place had the credit card companies
implemented the appropriate security infrastructure and controls.

So here's the situation. We aren't doing a good enough job protecting our critical IT assets at a time when the bad
guys continue to get smarter and more aggressive. Pretty scary if you ask me.

I got an e-mail after my last blog from someone who predicted that a major company will go belly up as a result of a
security breach within the next few years. Unfortunately, I agree with this prophecy.
