Microsoft no longer sending e-mail based security notifications

I received the following e-mail from MSFT earlier today.

Any idea what these "changing governmental policies" are? This seems
pretty ridiculous to not send e-mail notifications anymore.

In lieu of email notifications, you can subscribe to one or more of
the RSS feeds described on the Security TechCenter website.
