Sure, he may have confessed - but it's well known that false confessions happen
under duress.  Picture it:  You're a prototypical larval-stage wannabe, and
suddenly the door breaks down and 8 or 10 guys barge in with guns drawn.  You
probably do two things, in one order or another (possibly simultaneously):

1) Wet yourself.

2) Be ready to confess to anything, including being the Pope's and Mother
Teresas' secret love child, just to get them to point those guns someplace
other than your head...
