The "need to patch before I put it on the network" / "need to put it
on the network to get the patches" IS a real problem for many sysadmins.
***********************************************************

But not for everyone

The answer is as simple as a CDROM (or DVD, HD, or memory stick, etcetera,
etcetera), with all the patches, a batch file and Qchain.exe

How is it that some sysadmins can manage security, can just get on and
get the job done, and some others have to bitch and moan and show their
appalling ignorance of the wealth of tools available to them - many provided
by Microsoft.

The site I secure has never been hacked since I arrived four years ago.
It is always kept up to date with patches - within hours of them becoming
available.

Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, xBSD - they're all capable of being secured
by anyone who can follow simple instructions. Anyone who says otherwise
merely shows that they are totally unfit for their job.
