a standard.  You should have raised your voice years ago against it

You cannot compare changing a standard to breaking the law.

PS: discussion is over for me. From the "arguments" it is quite obvious
that MS has no right to change standards. If Netscape had introduced
the feature everyone here would cheer. But the big 800 pounds gorilla
has no rights...
