I thought the dripping sarcasm was obvious enough that no "real Word 
user" would find anything useful missing...

However, also note that VBA is integral to "all the useful moderately 
advanced stuff" in Excel -- the old formula macro languagfe is still 
supported, but has not been further developed since VBA was also glued 
into Excel.  Thus virtually all "custom solutions" now implemented in 
Excel would be unusable if you installed _Office_ without any VBA 
functionality.

The real point, I guess, is that the option is across-the-board, all-or-
nothing.  You cannot install, say Word and PowerPoint without VBA 
support but have VBA in Excel, so what is available is not quite what 
Richard said he has been asking for.
