I have to agree. I subscribed after hearing about this list on CNN.COM, but while most of the post are helpful and informative, the number messages used to insult/degrade/embarrass other posters is overwhelming. I hope that the list moderators take some sort of action to cut down on the nasty postings so that we can focus on the REALLY important issues concerning our industry. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Postma [mailto:spostma () travizon com] Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2003 4:00 PM To: full-disclosure () lists netsys com Subject: RE: [Full-disclosure] Immature blabla / cisco exploit Oh brother ... What a load of crap. I signed up to this list yesterday looking for good insights into our industry, and am signing off today because the only thing that comes over it is from people beating their chests and patting there own backs. -----Original Message----- From: security snot [mailto:booger () unixclan net] Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2003 3:15 PM To: Ron DuFresne Cc: Steve; full-disclosure () lists netsys com Subject: Re: [Full-disclosure] Immature blabla / cisco exploit DuFresne - is that French? I won't expect you to be fluent in English; nor shall I expect you to use the word email in your emails. Nice to know however that you have national pride. Unfortunately, the pride is for France. In the future, I suggest you not attempt to insult my intelligence on this list, or in any other forum, else I will be forced to challenge you to technical debates that beyond the scope of knowledge that you, or anyone willing to proxy-argue for you, will be able to comprehend. This will undoubtedly be damaging to your image of a security-professional posting incoherent banter concerning the use of grep(1) for source auditing, rewritten material on commercial firewall devices you've never touched, and your pleasurable arguments with your arch-nemisis, Matthew Murphy. In short, the more ignorant readers of this list who think there is any validity to what you say, will recognize you for the moron that you are, and this understanding will extend to whatever clientele that purchases your services. Then you'll never be able to move out of your mothers house, and will never have an opportunity to lose your virginity. But all insults aside, let us now get back on topic. My suggestion is to more clearly define what is considered appropriate security material to go on this list. I understand that you feel threatened, since if the standard is raised even the slightest you'll have nowhere to post, but resorting to these petty condescending attacks against me will not help you establish the illusion of technical prowess on your behalf. The "FAQ", which seems you have not read, already exists, and can be found via headers and footers/sigs already. It's spewed to list members monthly. But, it seems your e-address is perhaps already on the 'list' here, and perhaps so on a few of the other sec lists too, having been tapped here for info about whom you might be and all that already..
